One injured in early morning fire on S. Jardin
SHENANDOAH – One person was hurt when fire broke out in a duplex on South Jardin Street Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to the 200 block of South Jardin at 2:35am for a reported structure fire.
As fire crews arrived, flames could be seen in the front window of 234 South Jardin.
Crews from all five borough fire companies made quick work of the blaze, bringing it under control within 20 minutes and containing fire damage to the living room of 234.
An adjoining home at 232 received smoke damage, Rick Examitas, assistant chief, said.
He said one person who lived at 234 was taken to a local hospital for treatment of a minor injury.
No other injuries were reported.
A State Police fire marshal has been called in to investigate the cause.
Assisting the Shenandoah Fire Department was the Mahanoy City West End Fire Co., Ryan Township Ambulance, Shenandoah Ambulance, Mahanoy City Police, Frackville Police, and PPL Electric Utilities.
This is ridiculous that the kids who started the fire are getting away with it. They also burned his car too.
