Hometown crash injures one

HOMETOWN – One person was taken to a local hospital via Tamaqua Ambulance after a crash Sunday in this Rush Township village.

Firefighters were called to 168 Lincoln Drive around 4:30pm for the single vehicle crash.

A Chrysler 300 struck and sheared a utility pole, numbered for both PPL Electric Utilities and Bell Atlantic, a predecessor to Verizon Pennsylvania.

The driver of the Chrysler, the only occupant thereof, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The road was closed for about an hour.

Responding to the scene were Hometown Fire, Tamaqua Ambulance, Hometown Fire Police, and Rush Township Police.
