Fire rips through Ringtown home
RINGTOWN – A home on West Main Street in this borough is heavily damaged after an early morning fire.
Fire crews were called to the 100 block of West Main Street around 5:00am for a reported house fire.
“When we first got here, we had heavy fire in the first and second division at the front of the address,” Fire Chief Joseph Gilbert Jr. told the Sentinel, adding that the bulk of the fire was from the midpoint of the home at 153 West Main forward to Main Street.
A second alarm and tanker task force was requested in short order, bringing firefighters from across northern Schuylkill and southern Columbia and Luzerne Counties to the scene.
The fire was brought under control in about an hour, and by 7:30am, units were being released from the scene.
Ringtown firefighters remained on scene for several hours, dousing hotspots.
Gilbert said no injuries were reported, though he did not know how many occupants would be displaced.
Responding to the scene to assist Ringtown were firefighters from Shenandoah, Nuremberg-Weston, Sheppton-Oneida, Mahanoy City, Frackville, Girardville, Shenandoah Heights, William Penn, Hazle Township, Sugarloaf Township, Beaver Township, Aristes, Wilburton, Harwood, Gordon, Fountain Springs, Summit Station, Ryan Township, Numidia, and more, along with EMS units from Shenandoah and Area Services.
