West Penn St. home damaged by fire
SHENANDOAH – A home on West Penn Street was damaged after fire broke out Monday evening.
Firefighters from Shenandoah and Mahanoy City’s West End Fire Co. were called to 322 West Penn Street around 8:30pm for the fire.
A Polish American Fire Co. member spotted smoke coming from the home and called the Schuylkill County Communications Center.
Within a few minutes, firefighters from Shenandoah’s five fire companies were on scene as smoke billowed from the front of the home.
Shenandoah Fire Marshal Rick Examitas said no one was home when the fire broke out, and no one was hurt in the firefight.
The fire was brought under control within about half an hour, and fire crews were clear by 10:30pm.
Examitas said the fire is under investigation, and officials will return tomorrow.
Shenandoah Police and Shenandoah Ambulance assisted at the scene.
