Police seeking borough man for assaulting 76-year-old neighbor
SHENANDOAH – Borough police are seeking a 38-year-old borough man for assaulting his 76-year-old neighbor Tuesday afternoon in the unit block of North West Street.
Borough police said they are seeking Junior Abanto, 38, of Shenandoah for the incident. Officers said Abanto assaulted his 76-year-old neighbor with a piece of metal after a verbal altercation in the unit block of North West Street.
Abanto, described as a 5’10”, 160lb white hispanic male, fled the scene before emergency services arrived.
Police officers from Shenandoah, Mahanoy City, Frackville, West Mahanoy Township, and the State Police at Frackville converged on the scene around 3:00pm, responding to a report of a “large fight,” where they found the victim.
The victim was treated at the scene by Shenandoah Ambulance and taken to an awaiting Lehigh Valley MedEvac helicopter at the Shenandoah Helipad, and flown to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville for head injuries.
An arrest warrant has been obtained for Abanto on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct.
