Shen. Valley crowns McGowan homecoming queen

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Skye Lee McGowan is crowned Shenandoah Valley's 2020 homecoming queen.

SHENANDOAH – In an abridged version of the usual homecoming tradition — without elaborate floats or a formal parade — Shenandoah Valley crowned a homecoming queen prior to Saturday afternoon’s football game.

Members of the Shenandoah Valley High School senior class voted for a queen out of a homecoming court of ten candidates.

This year’s court nominees were Skye Lee McGowan, Sophie Jones, Lena Bell, Megan Bell, Jackie Bubnis, Victoria Chernesky, Alyssa Gervalis, Kira Getz, Kaitlyn Carduff, and Sabrina Hussein. Joie Rodnick served as speaker.

Each candidate, with escorts, made their way down midfield prior to the game, and lined up on each side of the 50, observing social distancing.

Afterward, the winner was announced, and McGowan was crowned queen for 2020.
