Fire destroys Trenton duplexes
TRENTON – Fire decimated a duplex and destroyed another in this Delano Township village Friday afternoon.
Fire broke out in a home adjacent to 82 Trenton Road just after noon.
Crews from Delano, Mahanoy City, and Ryan Township arrived to find a duplex engulfed in flames, with fire spreading to the adjacent duplex.
A second alarm was requested in short order along with a tanker task force, drawing crews from Shenandoah, Tamaqua, McAdoo, Ringtown, Harwood, Hazle Township, Sheppton-Oneida, and more.
Ryan Township Fire Co. Capt. Matthew Morgan said a one firefighter suffered a burn to their hand and two residents were evaluated by EMS and refused transport.
Firefighters remained on scene well into the evening extinguishing hotspots.
“It’s going to be very difficult to investigate. It’s to the ground,” Morgan said, noting that State Police Fire Marshal John Burns was called to the scene. “Heavy fire from the get-go.”
The fire strained fire units in northern Schuylkill County, as firefighters were also at the scene of a two-alarm fire at the Girard Mansion in Girardville.
