Welfare check leads police to wanted Sheppton man in stolen car
HARWOOD, Luzerne County – A Sheppton man is in Luzerne County Prison after a welfare check at a motel in this Hazle Township village on August 11.
State Police at Hazleton released details of the incident Tuesday.
Around 1:42am August 11, troopers were called to the Red Rooster Motel at 1348 Harwood Road for a welfare check.
There, troopers found a stolen 2008 Ford Fusion, with 35-year-old Michael Cray, of Sheppton, inside.
Cray, troopers said, had an active warrant.
Additionally, suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found in the car.
Cray was taken into custody and committed to Luzerne County Prison on charges of receiving stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, false alarm, possession of drug paraphernalia, unauthorized use of a vehile, and possession of marijuana.
