Youth Firefighter Camp visits fire school
MOREA – The Humane Fire Company’s Youth Firefighter Camp ended yesterday with some hands-on experience in the same facilities where our firefighters train regularly.
The 21 participants in the camp are the first youth group to have the opportunity.
Throughout the day, the participants practiced with hoselines, including drills in advancing hoselines to the second floor of the burn building in two-person teams.
Girardville Fire Chief Frank Zangari was on-hand for the day, lending his expertise and advice to the participants.
Towards the end of the day, while the group took a break, he thanked them.
“You are our future,” Zangari said.
The three-day camp concluded yesterday. The camp is in its second year, hosted by Mahanoy City’s Humane Fire Co.
