NORTHERN SCHUYLKILL – The following is a compilation of police incidents handled by state and local police in and around the northern Schuylkill area.

Girardville Police take Ashland man on warrant

GIRARDVILLE – Girardville Police apprehended an Ashland man on a warrant just after midnight July 5.

Police said they arrested Jorge A Henriquez, 24, of the 300 block of Center Street on a warrant.

He was transported to and lodged at the Schuylkill County Prison.

Drug possession charges pending against Pottsville woman

RYAN TWP. – Drug possession charges are pending against a Pottsville woman after a traffic stop near the former Schuylkill Mall late July 4.

State Police at Frackville reported that they stopped 29-year-old Katherine Aitken, of Pottsville, at Altamont Boulevard and Mall Road around 11:10pm for a traffic violation.

Troopers found Aitken to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia.

Charges are pending, troopers said.

Mt. Carmel man, teen transported after I-81 crash

A 69-year-old Mt. Carmel man and a 17-year-old teen were taken to a local hospital after their SUV rolled and hit a tree on the interstate on July 3.

The crash happened around 12:30pm, State Police at Frackville said.

Stephen Sebacius, 69, of Mt. Carmel was headed north on I-81 in Foster Township in a 2006 Ford Explorer when the vehicle traveled onto the median and rolled.

The vehicle struck a tree, and the vehicle had to be towed.

Both Sebacius and a 17-year-old passenger were taken to a Pottsville hospital by Minersville EMS.
