Stubborn cat stays in tree, despite firefighters’ efforts

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Nuremberg-Weston's ladder at the scene of an animal rescue in Sheppton on June 6, 2020.

SHEPPTON – A ladder truck from Nuremberg was called to this East Union Township village to assist in getting a cat down from a tree yesterday afternoon.

The call came in around 4:30pm Saturday, as a cat was reportedly stuck in a tree in the area of Shepp Street and Carbon Alley for the past few days.

Nuremberg’s ladder arrived, and firefighters attempted to head up and get the feline.

It turns out, the cat preferred the treetop, and fled firefighters farther into the tree.

Firefighters were clear after a short while, with the cat remaining in the tree.
