Cabin burns, sparks brush fire in Brandonville
BRANDONVILLE – A cabin burned to the ground Wednesday evening, sparking a brush fire and drawing firefighters from as far as Mount Carbon to the scene.
Firefighters were dispatched to the area of Dombrowski Lane around 9:00pm for reports of a house fire, bringing firefighters from Sheppton-Oneida, Nuremberg-Weston, Mahanoy City, Shenandoah, Shenandoah Heights, and Ringtown to the scene.
Flames were visible north of Brandonville from as far as Locust Mountain and the Ringtown area as firefighters were responding.
The fire was located in a remote wooded area north of Dombrowski Lane and Foose Lane, only accessible by brush apparatus.
Shenandoah and Mahanoy City firefighters were cleared to return, though assistance was requested from Llewellyn, Mount Carbon, Harwood, and the PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) for the 2½-ton brush trucks to access the scene.
The fire was reported as a cabin fire which sparked a small brush fire.
Firefighters remained at the scene until midnight, when the last Sheppton-Oneida unit cleared the scene.
