Shen. Valley names Students of the Month for February – May
SHENANDOAH – Four Shenandoah Valley High School students have been named Student of the Month for February through May, the school announced this morning.
Alyssa Buchanan – February
The daughter of Renee DelValle Buchanan and Joseph Buchanan, Alyssa Buchanan, Shenandoah Heights, was named February’s Student of the Month is highly involved in the school and local community.
At school, she participates in Volleyball, Student Council, serving as Vice President, Vice President of the Class of 2020, Basketball, Track, Cross Country, Cheer, National Honor Society, serving as Vice President, Youth Summit, Mini-THON, float committee, talent search, and formal committee.
In the community, she often helps with residents at Shenandoah Manor, with the annual Raven Run clean up, park clean-ups, Healthy Shenandoah, town cleanups, and Shenandoah Jr. Blue Devils games.
Her personal interests include being active and exercising, playing volleyball and basketball, spending time with family and friends, listening to Taylor Swift, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and cleaning.
Buchanan plans to attend college and become an Orthodontist.
Joseph Karvois – March
The son of Stephen and Joelle Karvois, Joseph Karvois, Shenandoah, was named March’s student of the month.
In the school community, Karvois, nicknamed ‘Junebug,’ participated in football, basketball, baseball, track, student council, National Honor Society, Mini-THON, Senator for a Day, and Youth Summit.
In the local community, he is widely involved. Karvois helps at the annual Kielbasi Festival and Heritage Day, Spartan Games, Special Olympics, and in his neighborhood, helping cut neighbor’s grass. In addition, he helps read to emotional support kids at the Elementary School, tutoring, and with local park clean-ups.
His personal interests include playing sports, going to the gym, and spending time with family and friends.
He plans to attend Gettysburg College, majoring in International Relations and Affairs with a minor in Political Science, and has his sights set on law school.
Kayla Perrong – April
The daughter of Scott and Jessica Perrong, Kayla Perrong, Shenandoah, was named Student of the Month of April.
In her community, Perrong serves as a junior firefighter with Shenandoah’s Rescue Hook and Ladder fire company, as well as as a volunteer at the ASPCA.
In the school, she served in three officer roles in the Shenandoah Valley Marching Band — Librarian, Vice President, and Captain of Percussion. Additionally, she participated in National Honor Society, Talent Search, Morning Announcements, and as Stage Crew Manager for the Shenandoah Valley Drama Club.
Her personal interests include Art, Reading, Sciences, Volunteer Work, and occasional video games.
Her future plans are to attend college, majoring in Chemistry, to ultimately become a Cardiovascular Surgeon.
Alex Donchak – May
The son of Kelly and Michael Donchak, Alex Donchak is an avid volunteer.
His community service highlights include serving on the chain crew for Shenandoah Mini Football, announcing games at Shenandoah Little League, helping clean up Route 54 east of Shenandoah, helping at Spartan Games and the Special Olympics, and with elderly at the Shenandoah Manor.
In school, he participated in football, basketball, track and field, student council, class historian, YES program, and the Shenandoah Torch newspaper.
His personal interests include fishing, attending concerts and sporting events, and creating and editing photos and videos.
He plans to attend college, majoring in radiology.
