Ringtown Valley firefighters called to grease fire
RINGTOWN – A grease fire caused damage to part of a kitchen on the east side of this borough Friday afternoon.
Firefighters from the Ringtown Valley Fire Company, plus mutual aid from Shenandoah, Sheppton-Oneida, Mahanoy City, and Frackville were called to 10 Line Street around 5:30pm.
Out-of-town companies were cancelled shortly after, as Ringtown Valley crews arrived to find the fire had largely been extinguished by homeowners.
“Whatever they were cooking caught on fire on the stove, caught the microwave, burned the cabinets and the wall a bit,” said Ringtown Valley Fire Chief Joseph Gilbert. “They pretty much had it out by the time we got here.”
The incident caused minor damage, Gilbert said.
No injuries were reported, and firefighters began to clear the scene by 6:15pm.
