Tractor trailer downs wires, damages homes on North Gilbert

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Damage to 28 and 30 North Gilbert Street in Shenandoah.

SHENANDOAH – Two porches were damaged and utility wires were downed in the unit block of North Gilbert Street, when a tractor trailer traveled down that street.

The incident happened around 2:30pm, when the Freightliner tractor-trailer, owned by Ryder Logistics, of Florida, was headed westbound on West Coal Street, when it turned left at North Gilbert and headed towards West Centre.

In the unit block, the truck caught utility lines connected to 28 and 30 North Gilbert, pulling the lines down, damaging the porches and dislodging a utility box on 28 North Gilbert.

The truck proceeded to Gilbert and Centre, turning left to head eastbound on Centre.

The entire incident was caught on a set of security cameras in the row.

Shenandoah Fire Chief Russ Schumack was called to the scene to inspect the downed wires to ensure no safety hazard existed, and Shenandoah Police were notified and were provided the camera footage.
