HS BASEBALL: Spartans outlast Raiders, 4-3

FOUNTAIN SPRINGS – North Schuylkill’s baseball team thwarted a comeback to defeat Tamaqua Tuesday afternoon.

The Spartans took down the Raiders 4-3.

North Schuylkill held a 4-0 lead entering the 7th inning when Tamaqua mustered three runs, but it wasn’t enough.

For the Spartans, Stephen Minahan had two hits and an RBI while Aaron Brayford and Landen Smith each had a hit and an RBI.

Chase Slotcavage also had an RBI.

On the mound, Slotcavage pitched six innings, allowing just one hit, and struck out nine batters.

Mark Monahan pitched the seventh inning, allowing a hit while striking out two.

The Spartans play at Pottsville on Thursday.
