Woman, 36, killed in South Tamaqua wreck
SOUTH TAMAQUA – A woman is dead and a man was seriously injured after a crash near here Friday evening.
Victoria Bailey, 36, of Tamaqua, died in the crash, according to the State Police at Frackville.
Troopers said the crash happened around 9:30pm Friday on Route 443 just west of Route 309 in Walker Township.
A 1990 Eagle was headed east on Route 443 when the vehicle lost control and struck a utility pole.
Bailey, troopers said, was pronounced dead at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
A passenger, Keith Bailey, 37, of Tamaqua, was seriously injured and taken to a Bethlehem hospital for treatment.
Firefighters from Walker Township and Tamaqua assisted along with fire police from Tamaqua, police from West Penn Township, and medical personnel from Lehighton, Tamaqua, and Penn Mahoning.
