Shenandoah native sons prominent in Scranton mural
KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Shenandoah's own Dorsey Brothers are seen in the center of a mural dubbed The Big Band, seen on Wyoming Avenue in Scranton on April 6, 2026.
SCRANTON – Just over an hour north of the Heart of the Anthracite, two native sons are honored on a mural in the Electric City.
Shenandoah’s own Dorsey Brothers, Tommy and Jimmy, are featured prominently in a mural in downtown Scranton.
As one may expect, the mural, adorning the side of a law firm on Wyoming Avenue, is dubbed “The Big Band.”

According to Scranton Tomorrow, the mural was painted by Eric Bussart and was dedicated in October of 2024.
In addition to the Dorsey Brothers, it also features the Scranton Sirens and their bandleader Billy Lustig, as well as the Dorseys’ mentor Duke Ellington.
The Dorsey Brothers, Scranton Tomorrow says, first played with the Scranton Sirens at the historic Hotel Casey.
