Hazleton student’s FBLA project supports autism community, receives backing from nonprofit

HAZLETON – A Hazleton Area student’s Future Business Leaders of America project is receiving support from a local nonprofit.
Lexi Staffin is working on “Fidgets for Future,” a project supporting the autistic and neurodivergent community, the school district said in a release. It aims to provide sensory-friendly fidgets to students in need.
Collaborative Autism Movement, a local nonprofit, is pitching in $500 to support the project, helping complete the Amazon fidget list for the project.
“We are so proud of Lexi and all of our students who find ways to support their peers and the broader community,” said Dr. Brian Uplinger, Superintendent of Hazleton Area School District. “Projects like Fidgets for Future demonstrate the compassion, leadership, and creativity that we encourage in every student. We are grateful to the Collaborative Autism Movement for their support and for helping amplify the positive work of our students.”
