POTTSVILLE – A community organization in Schuylkill County is launching a fundraiser to help folks facing food insecurity.

Schuylkill Community Action announced Neighbors First: The 25,746 Campaign on Monday.

The number, organizers say, symbolizes the amount of countians who went without their monthly SNAP benefits last month and represents the number Schuylkill Community Action hopes to raise for their Schuylkill Food Network.

“Every dollar we raise will go directly toward purchasing food, supporting mobile distributions, and sustaining emergency response efforts across the county,” said Dave Young, Chief Executive Officer of Schuylkill Community Action. “Together, we can ensure that no neighbor goes hungry — because in Schuylkill County, we put our neighbors first.”

During this time of uncertainty, many residents in Schuylkill County face food insecurity. Neighbors First seeks to unite the community, reminding everyone that we are strongest when we care for one another.

The campaign invites residents, local businesses, and community organizations to participate by donating, sharing the campaign, or supporting local food distributions. Funds will directly strengthen the network of food pantries, mobile food delivery programs, and emergency services that serve the most vulnerable in the county.
