Hazleton JROTC cadets take part in leadership camp

JOHNSTOWN, Cambria County – Twelve JROTC cadets from Hazleton Area recently attended a leadership camp in western Pennsylvania.
The students took part in the JROTC Cadet Leadership Camp at Camp Odyssey in Cambria County.
Hazleton Cadets joined peers from 10 other JROTC programs across the state to participate in a weeklong experience focused on developing leadership skills, teamwork, and confidence.
Through adventure-based activities including obstacle courses and rappelling, students were challenged to step out of their comfort zones and lead their peers in a supportive, fun environment.
Master Sergeant (Retired) Michael Hale, Assistant Instructor for the Hazleton Area JROTC program, mentored the Cadets throughout the camp and praised the experience.
“I feel like the training and experiences the Cadets had at Camp had a profound impact on them. Each one of them experienced growth in their own way. The Camp improved their understanding of leadership, followership, and self-worth,” he said.
The camp offered students the opportunity to strengthen not just their leadership abilities but also their understanding of what it means to be a team player and resilient individual.
