Tamaqua man charged after threatening family with kitchen knife

GINTHERS – A Tamaqua man faces charges after State Police at Frackville say he threatened family members with a kitchen knife in the Rush Township village of Ginthers last Friday.
According to State Police, a complaint was received from a home on Fairview Street around 4:45pm Friday from family members of Anthony Keiper, 32, of Tamaqua, saying he arrived there under the influence of drugs, and displaying a kitchen knife which led them to fear “serious bodily injury.”
Troopers arrived and took Keiper into custody on charges of simple assault, harassment, and public drunkenness.
Keiper was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge David Rossi, Tremont, and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in lieu of $30,000 cash bail.
Assisting state police at the scene was Tamaqua Police, as Rush Township Police were busy with a simultaneous emergency.
