RAVEN RUN – Aqua Pennsylvania is encouraging customers to voluntarily conserve water as eastern Pennsylvania experiences “abnormally dry” conditions.

The company says the request follows Aqua’s analysis of surface and groundwater conditions.

Some water conservation tips they share include shutting the tap off when brushing your teeth or shaving; taking showers instead of baths; and limiting outdoor watering.

Aqua added that they are confident in being able to supply their systems, but the request for voluntary conservation is a precaution.

“Aqua’s drought team will continue to monitor the situation to ensure continued service and reliability,” Aqua said in a release. “To this end, we ask our customers to use water wisely in this abnormal period.”

The request applies to their entire Pennsylvania and New Jersey systems, including the local Shenandoah, Roaring Creek, and Eagle Rock systems.

The Hazleton City Authority, which serves the Delano and Park Place areas, is also asking residents to cut water usage by 25% as they enter stage one of the drought contingency plan.
