NEW BOSTON – Two people were hurt when their vehicles collided near the village of New Boston Wednesday afternoon.
Emergency crews were dispatched around 5:15pm to the intersection of Morea Road and Roosevelt Drive, at the entrance to New Boston, for the crash. Crews arrived to find a 2004 Chevy Colorado and a 2016 Kia Sportage damaged and disabled at the scene.
According to Mahanoy Township Police, Antoinette Boyle, 78, of New Boston was driving the Colorado westbound on Morea Road and attempted to make the turn into the village when she was blinded by the sun and struck the Sportage, driven by Dennis Waters, 54, of Berwick.
Both Waters and Boyle were injured, treated at the scene, and taken to the hospital for treatment.
Mahanoy City’s Humane and West End Fire Companies responded, as well as police officers from Mahanoy City and Township, and EMTs from Ashland and Frackville.
