Mahanoy Township PD takes delivery of new cruiser
MAHANOY CITY – The Mahanoy Township Police Department will have a new vehicle patrolling its various patches soon.
The department took delivery of a new 2023 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV Thursday.
Township supervisors were shown the pursuit-rated SUV after Thursday’s township meeting.
Chief Brian Johnson said the vehicle includes a new smart lighting system which will improve officer safety.
The new SUV replaces an older Ford Police Interceptor Utility, which was totaled in a crash.
In other business, the township approved a resolution expressing support for the ongoing efforts to revitalize the Pumping Station Dam in East Union Township, supporting its classification as a regional recreation project.
The dam, affectionately known by locals as the Pumpy and owned by Shenandoah borough, is the subject of renewed efforts to revive the once-legendary fishing and recreation spot.
