Mahanoy firefighters tackle car fire atop Vulcan Hill

VULCAN – Mahanoy City firefighters made quick work of a car fire near this Mahanoy Township village Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters were called to the intersection of Morea Road and Vulcan Hill Road a little after 3:00pm for reports of a vehicle fire.
Mahanoy City Fire Chief Dan Markiewicz arrived to find the engine compartment of a Hyundai Accent engulfed in flames near the Gulf station.

Engines from the West End and Humane Fire Companies arrived within minutes and had the fire contained in short order.
No injuries were reported.
The Morea Road from the I-81 exit to Vulcan Hill Road was closed for the duration of the incident.
