Five escape SUV fire on Locust Mountain

KAYLEE LINDENMUTH / SHENANDOAH SENTINEL - Flames engulf a Jeep Cherokee along Route 924 between Shenandoah and Brandonville early Monday morning.
UNION TOWNSHIP – Five people escaped injury when a Jeep Cherokee caught fire as it ascended Locust Mountain along Route 924 around midnight.
Firefighters were called to the Brandonville side of the mountain on Route 924 a few minutes into Monday morning for the reported fire.
East Union Township Police at the scene arrived to find a Jeep Cherokee ablaze.

They said five people — two adults and three children — were in the vehicle and escaped unharmed.
Firefighters from the Sheppton-Oneida and Ringtown Valley fire companies made quick work of the blaze.
Route 924 between the Pattersonville/Brandonville split and Brandonville itself was closed for about an hour.
