City firefighters tackle vehicle fire

POTTSVILLE – As firefighters from around the central section of the county battled a fire at the DiNicola Mansion in Minersville, the Pottsville Bureau of Fire handled a second call, a vehicle fire in the city.

Firefighters from the Good Will and Good Intent fire companies in the city were called to 661 North Centre Street for a vehicle fire around 3:30pm.

Crews found a Chrysler van aflame, and had the fire extinguished in short order.

Pottsville Police at the scene said no one was hurt, and the fire broke out as the driver was headed south on North Centre Street towards downtown Pottsville.

He was the only occupant, they said.
